This guide is for whoever runs or manages a server, not for whoever installs the addon.
Deleting a file or folder
Nothing about the usual flow changes: delete it from the panel's File Manager or over SFTP, same as always. The difference is what happens behind the scenes - the file doesn't disappear, it moves into the trash folder.
The trash folder
It shows up at the root of every server, always first in the listing (it doesn't get sorted alphabetically with everything else), with a trash-can icon instead of the regular folder icon. It has no selection checkbox and no "..." menu: it can't be renamed, moved, deleted, or accidentally swept up in a bulk delete.
Opening the trash
Opening trash doesn't show a normal file listing - it shows a dedicated screen with every deleted item, listing:
- Its original name.
- The path it came from.
- Its size (for files).
- The date it was deleted.
From there you can:
- Select one, several, or everything with the checkboxes.
- Restore selected - puts the selected items back at their exact original path, even if they were several levels deep inside subfolders.
- Delete selected forever - permanently deletes the selection. This can't be undone.
- Empty trash - restore or purge everything at once, without selecting items one by one.
When the original path is already taken
If someone already created a new file at the same path as the one being restored, the restore fails - nothing is lost, not the new file and not the one in the trash - and a message explains that whatever's occupying that spot needs to be removed or renamed before trying again.
Looking inside a deleted folder
If what got deleted was a folder with things inside it, going one level past trash (into the folder with the mangled name Wings gave it) shows its contents exactly as they were preserved, using the normal file browser - handy for grabbing one specific thing without restoring the whole folder.
